Mazda Dealership Report: 2019 Mazda 3 Hatch First Impressions

Mazda 3 hatch

The new 2019 Mazda 3 hatch has arrived, and it’s been put through its paces by car industry insiders. As you local Mazda dealers in Perth, we’ve put together a brief review of the latest incarnation of this popular car so that you can make an informed purchasing decision. Let’s get started.

Some First Overall Impressions

This latest Mazda 3 hatch has seen the evolution to a more premium car with sportier looks and plenty of luxury features on board. The design ethos is bold, the cabin has a classy feel, and the driving position is excellent. Mazda has improved the steering for extra responsiveness, and the noise, handling, and vibration (NVH) suppression is even more effective than the outgoing models. There is an impressive list of tech and safety features fitted as standard, and you get access to the excellent Mazda customer care that we’ve become accustomed to in recent years. Some people may not enjoy the bolder design philosophy (it grows on you), the new features come at an additional premium and the boot is a little smaller than some rivals in the segment.

A New 3rd Generation Hatch

This latest Mazda 3 is the 3rd generation of the popular hatch, and the direction has changed. In a segment that’s been increasingly populated by bland, conservative offerings, Mazda has chosen a new route for the Mazda 3. Some interior cabin and boot space has been sacrificed to install new technology and create a more premium car. At the moment there is no base level Neo variant available, and bargain hunters will be looking at the G20 Pure instead.

The Mazda 3 G20 Pure “Entry Level” Model

This is the current “entry level” model, but it’s in no way an under specified car. In fact, the specs for the G20 Pure may raise some eyebrows amongst those looking for an alternative to a premium grade VW Golf. Every new Mazda 3 will get the following equipment fitted as standard: push button starting, radar guided cruise control, blind spot monitoring, seven airbags, rear cross traffic alert, front and rear autonomous braking and lane departure warning. However, the G20 Pure adds other features, such as An 8.8” touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, LED headlights, alloy wheels and a heads up display to project the current speed and navigation data directly onto the bottom of the windscreen.

The Mazda 3 G20 Evolve and Upwards

The G20 Evolve is the next car up in the range, and it adds even more equipment, such as a leather steering wheel, leather gear shifting knob, and 18” alloy wheels. Go up again to the G20 Touring, and you get keyless entry and electrically operated leather seats. Further advances into the G25 Evolve and G25 Astina garner even more equipment and bigger engine choices.
