Mazda has further strengthened its commitment to the North Melbourne Football Club, becoming the naming rights partner for the 2016 Mazda North Melbourne Grand Final Breakfast.
This year’s traditional start to the biggest day on Australia’s sporting calendar will also be a historic occasion, as the club celebrates 50 years of the event.
The Mazda North Melbourne Grand Final Breakfast was first held in 1967 and since then has become a staple of Grand Final day.
The club can also confirm stars Mike Brady and Greg Champion will be part of the entertainment line up at this year’s event.
Ron Joseph, Albert Mantello, Lloyd Holyoak and Allen Aylett were the initiators of this tradition back in 1967 on a morning that brings together VIPs, sport stars, the who’s who of the AFL world, as well as politicians, including the Prime Minister.
Mazda managing director Martin Benders said the automotive manufacturer was delighted to be part of the club’s biggest event.
“We have seen, over the many years that Mazda has partnered with North Melbourne, how important the breakfast is to Grand Final day, the Club, and football fans in general,” Benders said.
“Mazda is proud of its involvement with this iconic event and we look forward to celebrating the biggest day on the sporting calendar with those that are attending.”
North managing director and CEO Carl Dilena thanked Mazda for their ongoing support.
“Mazda’s loyalty to North Melbourne cannot be questioned,” Dilena added.
“This year, we’ve already celebrated extending our partnership with Mazda to 21 years, and now their support of the Mazda North Melbourne Grand Final Breakfast further strengthens Mazda’s commitment and support of our club.”
