ICONS UNITE: MAZDA PARTNERS WITH THE TASMANIAN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
September 20, 2017 webmazdam

Mazda has expanded its interest in the arts by entering into an exclusive ‘Major’ sponsorship partnership with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

Declared a Tasmanian icon in 1998, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (TSO) is one the nation’s most accomplished and popular Orchestras.

Mazda’s investment helps stage two not-to-be-missed concert performances, including Baroque Pops, which brings Handel’s Water Music and other Baroque favourites to the stage this week, and ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ in October.

‘I Dreamed a Dream’ presents music from some of the best musicals ever written, including Les Misérables, Chicago, Funny Girl, Cabaret and The Sound of Music.

Mazda is delighted to join the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra as a Major partner and as exclusive car supplier.

“The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra is a Tasmanian institution and Mazda is proud to partner this wonderfully creative and talented group of performers,” said Mazda’s Tasmanian state manager Bill Pattison.

“Mazda’s relationship with the TSO, and in the arts in general, is our way of giving back to a community that has supported us.

“The approaching concert series promises to be unforgettable, Mazda is thrilled to be involved. We expect everyone that attends will have the night of their lives.”

This new partnership between the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Mazda will help to continue to fund live orchestral music in Tasmania.

“The Orchestra is renowned for staging a popular mix of high quality performances year on year, we could not accomplish this without the support from partners like Mazda,” said Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra corporate partnerships executive Ms Sam East.

“As the only major performing arts company in Tasmania, the TSO has a big responsibility to ensure live orchestral music is offered to as many communities as possible.

“The kind of financial and logistical support we receive from Mazda is a huge enabler for this to happen.

“We publicly thank them for stepping up, giving back and making a difference.”

Mazda enjoys a long involvement in the Australian arts scene, supporting both Arts Exhibitions Australia and Opera Australia.

The relationship with Arts Exhibitions Australia stretches back over 20 years and has helped bring some of the world’s greatest artworks from Europe to Australian galleries.

Last year Australian art enthusiast enjoyed ‘Masterpieces from the Hermitage: The Legacy of Catherine the Great’, while Mazda has also brought out collections from Impressionist painter Claude Monet, and Spanish Cubist Pablo Picasso.

Mazda’s support of Opera Australia over the last 12 years has seen the emergence of the popular Opera in the Bowl in Melbourne and Sydney’s Opera in the Domain, both of which have introduced the hits of Opera to a wider audience.
