2018 Mazda 3 Specs Confirmed

>2018 Mazda 3 Specs

The 3 has been a popular model in the Mazda lineup, and so the 2018 refresh has been highly anticipated. Mazda has finally confirmed the specs for the new Mazda 3, and so here we will explore what new nomenclatures you can expect from this exciting new model.

The Updated Neo

The 2018 base model is now called the Neo Sport. The changes include an MZD Connect 7.0 inch touchscreen across the range as standard. This is accompanied by multi function command controller, reverse camera, DAB+ digital radio and two additional speakers.

The Updated Maxx

The new Mazda 3 Maxx has been similarly renamed and is now the Maxx Sport. The specification has been bolstered with automatic headlights, automatic rain sensing wipers, electric parking brake and dual zone climate control.

Higher Spec Models

The mid level Touring now features advanced keyless entry, while the SP25, SP25 GT, and SP25 Agina remain unchanged.

Powertrain Options

The Touring, Maxx Sport and Neo Sport variants are all powered with a naturally aspirated 2.0 litre four cylinder engine that produces 114 kW power and 200 Nm torque. As with the current range, the SP25 variants have step engine displacements up to 2.5 litres and these come with a power bump up to 138 kW.

New Safety Features

There is also a myriad of safety features that are now offered range wide. These include traction control and auto emergency braking. The Maxx Sport and upwards also gain rear cross traffic alert, reverse emergency braking and blind spot monitoring.

New Paint Shades

The new Mazda 3 range is available with eight new paint hues. These include Machine Grey, Eternal Blue, Snowflake White Pearl, Titanium Flash, Soul Red Crystal, Sonic Silver, Deep Crystal Blue and Jet Black.

Driving Sales Forward

The Mazda 3 finished in fourth place as Australia’s best selling vehicle in 2017. It accumulated 32,690 units sold, finishing behind the Toyota HiLux, Ford Ranger, and Toyota Corolla. In its segment, the 3 was second only to the Corolla, beating out other popular models including the Hyundai i30 and Volkswagen Golf.

Mazda has made a strong start to 2018, outselling its Toyota rival by 425 units, with 3201 new registrations recorded in the January sales figures. This is sure to be bolstered by the launch of the new Mazda 3 for sale. Perth drivers are sure to find the new 3 attractive, and this is likely to help Mazda drive sales even further forward for an impressive 2018.
